Actively Raining Thoughts-Room Service Home Staging: Delray Beach- a Week of Preparation.

My Thoughts; My Blog!

Delray Beach- a Week of Preparation.

Delray Beach- A Week of Preparation

As I write this, it looks like Erika has become a bit more disorganized and will not favor us with a hurricane.  But, she did give those of us in South Florida a wake up call that not only are we still in hurricane season but it’s just getting started.

It made me think about preparation and why, as easy as getting ready could be, some of us just don’t take the time to prepare...whether it’s for work, a game, or our everyday lives.

“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.”     Alexander Graham Bell

Those who were prepared had only to address last minute items this week. No panic or rushing to several markets and discount stores to purchase one of the last gallon bottles of water. (Yes, I was out buying fresh produce just in case and heard several people complaining that some stores were already out of water.)

However those who chose to put it off are no doubt breathing a sigh of relief… for now.

Much of the stress we feel is self induced.  The old quote of luck is preparation meeting opportunity makes a lot of sense.

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”                 Benjamin Franklin

“The will to succeed is important, but what’s more important is the will to prepare.”              Bobby Knight

Hope you’re prepared for a wonderful weekend!

Good morning Kathy,

Being prepared is a must in any area before a storm. We are lucky in that we generslly have a warning of when and where unlike a tornado.

Hope you are prepared for and have a great weekend.

Hi Kathy.  I'm quite surprised that Erika is still hanging in there as a storm.  This one has been a difficult one to predict for the weathermen.

Kathy, you were saved on your coast and it looks like we're just going to get lots of rain on our coast.  The mountains of Cuba will determine if it's a tropical disturbance or just rain.

I'm so glad to hear that this one is fizzling out.  I'm sure there were many frantic shoppers out looking for that last 24 pack of bottled water.  Maybe now they will plan ahead as the season is upon you.

That is a sad commentary about people and their lack of self reliance.  They want cradle to grave entitlements.

Kathy

We have are fortunate that Ericka seem to be breaking up . . . .The next couple of days will fill of heavy topical rain and some flooding . . . . It's been 10 years since the last hurricane hit Florida . . . . and it's only a matter until we get one. With that said . . . . From personal experience we have to be prepared for a hurricane in advance of the storm for the personal safety . . . . To be able to eat, and something to eat.

Good luck and success.

Kathy,

This is one is a keeper. Instead of a Hurricane Horror story, you gave us hope and an incentive to be prepared. I pray for your safety and everyone else in all the hurricane paths. One never knows. Being prepared is a way of life, isn't it?

Kathy I remember reading about Erika on the Internet and mentioned to Diane the name...ironically we did not think much of it, not realizing what effect this can have on  rest of the country ...I am glad nothing came of it outside of a "wake-up" call to prepare... stay safe, Endre

Erika is no longer a serious threat and thi sis great news for us. I have lived through some hurricanes, we never left, but if a strong Hurricane is coming our way, I would get into my car and we will leave for a few days.

We live in a condo, and we lived in a condo during 4 Hurricanes of 2004 (another one), and no, we did not even lose power. But imagine losing power? And sitting locked in sometimes for days with no power, no AC, no fridge, no kitchen? No fun...
