Today I got a jump start on training my memory.... I think. This morning's February Business Meeting for the Women's Council of Realtors, Greater Palm Beach Chapter featured Gary Castellano, of Direct Development Training. His topic "Improve Your Results by Training Your Memory."
We've all been there... you go into a room and once you're there you can't quite remember why it is you went there. You see someone you should know... because gosh knows they seem to know you but for the life of you, their name just isn't popping into your head.
Of course in the short time we had, our memories weren't exactly SuperCharged but something I'll pass on is that MEMORY gives you the competitive edge.
Think how much more productive we could be if we actually remembered all of the things that we write down on all of those little sticky notes or place in our digital calendars.

Think how we would outshine the competition if we were able to remember all of our client's names as well as all of their details.. how many children they have, what they did on their last vacation!
( I know you've heard this before but when someone is introduced to you SLOW DOWN and LISTEN to their name.. AND always REPEAT their name in your conversation with them).
Think how much more professional and polished we'd appear when speaking before a group if we could do so without little cards in front of us... looking down every few seconds to reference our thoughts.
Mr. Castellano's point was that we all have PERFECT MEMORY.... it's the RETRIEVAL of it that's causing a problem!
It's not about remembering things... it's learning how to properly store all of the information we process so that we can retrieve it.
See... We're all doing fine regarding our memory... we just have to figure out where it went.
So next time you "forget" something... here are 2 phrases you can use that will cover your forgetfulness:
" I Don't Recall"
and
"I must have Over-looked that!"
Now go off and have a great day while I try to remember why I wrote this post.
