University of Kansas College Football- the Perfect Way to Spend a Saturday Afternoon!
Every fall we take our family trip to Kansas, Omaha and Houston and we always schedule it around a University of Kansas (my husband's alma mater) home game. Last year we sat in the rain.... several years ago we sat in 42 degree weather and froze .. we have since learned to go in early fall. Saturday's game was perfect weather.
It was homecoming so there were salutes to former athletes, mascots and band members. The day began with a drop in from parachutists onto the field. The KU marching band runs in from several aisles to the delight of all of the fans. They then run onto the field like one big mob.
A fun treat was the KU Alumni band... led by probably one of the oldes drum majors around. It's exciting to see people still engaged in something they love and having fun with it.
The only negative.. and hey, it's only one game but KU did lose to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
If you want to feel young again.. take in a college football game. You don't even have to be an alumni!
