Today was a perfect "Spring" day in February to try out these hand built Chesapeake Light Craft Kayaks.
Chesapeake Light Crafts (CLC) offers boat kits, boat building materials and boat plans for kayaks, row boats, sailboats and other small watercraft. Yes, an amateur can build this boat. (I know... we almost ended up with one in our garage!) Today there was a demonstration at George English Parkin Ft Lauderdale, where anyone interested or even just curious could try out several of their boats.
All you needed was a life jacket! There were serious kayakers and interested parties that tried out several styles to see which was the perfect fit. There were 2 seater kayaks, row boats and paddle boards.
There are more than 20,000 of these crafts that have been built from these award winning designs.
And, believe it or not this park is located in the heart of Ft. Lauderdale, just across the street from the Galleria, home to the mother ship (Neiman Marcus) and many more retail stores. What a perfect way to spend a "Spring" day in South Florida!
