Arthur R Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge- See a Part of the Everglades in Our Own Backyard

Located just a short car ride west of downtown Delray Beach and Boynton Beach, the Arthur R Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is a living outdoor classroom for any aged student wanting to learn about this interesting "river of grass.' Loxahatchee (as this is called) is one of 553 wildlife refuges in the United States managed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
Inside the center is a short film about the Everglades that will give you a general idea of what the Everglades is and how important it is to our eco-system. There is a boardwalk behind the center where you can take a short stroll and keep an eye out for any of the 257 species of birds that have called this refuge home.
There is a rim canal that is a favorite of kayakers and canoists.... oh yes, and alligators.
If you are curious at all about our land and what we owe it... take a trip out to Arthur R Marshall Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge!
