The Ninth Annual American Orchid Society's Fall Show is just around the corner and if you live anywhere in South Florida, you'll know just how lucky we are to have the headquarters for the Society right in our own back yard.
The AOS (American Orchid Society) provides the most up-to-date information on orchids and their culture; supports their research; and monitors conservations efforts not only in the United States but worldwide.
Orchid lovers as well as photographers look forward to this annual event as a chance to see and purchase orchid species from as far away as Hawaii. There will also be educational lectures, repotting services, and AOS judging.
I spoke with Enid Torgersen, head of Volunteers and Special Events, who said that this year will be a very special year for the show as they are partnered with Hospice-By-the Sea and renowned artist, Gerry Gotkin. All of the funds from the sale of his works (which have been featured at the Smithsonian) will benefit Hospice By The Sea.
If you are seeking a special species orchid, need some charming pink butterfly orchid clips for your flowers, or just want to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful plants on this earth in one of the most serene orchid gardens around, mark your calendar for this very special event.
