Women’s Council of Realtors Greater Palm Beach Chapter - Meet the Mayors!  

The Women’s Council of Realtors had their monthly business meeting and lunch today and we were treated to a panel of 6 of our area Mayors who discussed  millage rates, taxes, assessment fees and other special areas of concern.  Today’s event was held at Benvenuto’s in Boynton Beach .  

This was a great way for the Realtors to hear about issues related to the individual towns so that they can be the “local expert” when representing Buyers or Sellers.

It was enlightening to discover just where the tax dollars are going and get a kind of “State of the ‘union’ address.

2011 Women’s Council of Realtors Greater Palm Beach Annual Installation- What a Wonderful Event!

Yesterday I attended the WCR Greater Palm Beaches Installation of the 2012 Officers and it was a very special occasion.  I’ve been an Affiliate of the WCR for a few years now and I love this group of women AND men.  Yes, men can be members and in fact have served as President of  our local chapter.

This was also a special event for me because my friend, Wendy Lindquist, who was instrumental in my joining the WCR, was sworn in as the 2012 Chapter President.  And, I had the honor of offering the Inspirational for her special day.  

The 2012 Officers are:

VP-Membership- Helen Sanguedolce

Secretary/Treasurer-Teresa Garcia


The event was held at one of my favorite places... The Sundy House in Delray Beach.  It’s hard to describe this treasure of Delray but suffice it to say that if you’re looking for a tropical paradise within our tropical Village by-the-Sea,  the Sundy House is it.

10 Great Apps for Realtors, a Gorgeous Golf Course View and Dessert- Our WCR -Greater Palm Beaches Fall Dessert Auction...

The WCR Greater Palm Beaches had our November Business Meeting at The Club at Boca Pointe this morning and it could not have been in a more perfect setting.  The Club at Boca Pointe has a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course,  tennis courts,  multiple dining areas with an excellent reputation, a 40,000 square foot Athletics Center, and so much more.   

What stands out is their innovative and flexible membership plans.  Definitely worth it for the person who is looking for a club that does not have a one-size-fits all approach to membership.

Always aiming to keep its members informed, our guest speaker was Danielle Boutin,  Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches  Manager of Emerging Technologies.

Danielle told us about 10 Must Have Apps for the Real Estate Professional.    You already have heard about (1)Evernote and Dropbox, but here are some you might want to check out:

(3) Dragon Dictation -for the i-guys .. iPhone,iPad, iTouch
(4) Magic Plan- this tool allows you to create floor plans and room dimensions
(5) Shoeboxed- This app allows you to keep track of your expenses by taking pictures of your receipts
(6) Cardmunch- links with Linked-In
(7) Sign-N-Send- or Docu-Sign
(8) Posterous- a blogging platform
(9) Camera+- for the iGuys again
(10)Fun Apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Words with Friends, Angry Birds.


And.... that’s not all!  We had our Fall Dessert Auction.. just in time for Thanksgiving.  Pecan pies, brownies with chocolate frosting and toffee, a pumpkin pie, and yes, a house made of chocolate... definitely not a short sale or foreclosure.

Our Women's Council of Realtors and Active Rain Have Something in Common!

Woment's Council of Realtors Today was the monthly breakfast meeting of the Women's Council of Realtors/Greater Palm Beach Chapter, held at Cypress Creek Country Club in Boynton Beach, FL.   As an Affiliate, I'm able to be a part of a very supportive and generous group of women and men ( yes, we have male members!)

I found today's meeting interesting not only because of our 2 great guests but also because their topics were 2 I've seen during the week here on Active Rain.  In fact, I wrote one of them on Realtor Safety.  Was this a coincidence or is Active Rain just that tuned into the pulse of what's happening in the communities?  (Check out Karen Anne Stone's post today)

Our first speaker was Pamela Guerrier, Manager of Equal Employment Opportunity and Fair Housing for Palm Beach County.  Now the topic of Fair Housing, while needed information for those in this industry, could be considered to be a little dry, Pamela brought life and humor to the topic in her manner of presentation.   We learned about 55+ Communities (not to be called Adult Communities, Active Adult or Adult Living ), which for our area is a topic you cannot avoid.  For more information please go to the Palm Beach County Equal Opportunity site. 

I'm hoping our local Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches will also have her as a guest speaker.

We also had a too short visit with Andrew Wooten of S.A.F.E.  Mr. Wooten is a Crime PreventionSafety First Expert who works with companies and organizations to  educate their employees and members about Safety Awareness.   The one piece of advice he left us with is " Pay Attention to Yourself".  He said that in interviewing survivors of these attacks the one thing they said was that they thought something didn't feel right and they should have listened to their instincts.

WCR EventAs an Affiliate with the Women's Council of Realtors, one of my treats is the monthly Members meetings.  In April, for example, we had a joint Gift Basket  Auction with members from the Greater Palm Beach chapter joining the Jupiter/Tequesta/Hobe Sound chapter.

The Women's Council of Realtors, made up by the way, of men and women, strives to empower women to maximize their potential.

Thursday's event will be held at the Boca Woods Country Club.

After breakfast, there will be a presentation by Boca Woods and a tour of special properties.

What a great way to meet your fellow Realtors, network, and keep on top of the latest Real Estate trends.

Now THIS is a Spring Basket Auction Every One Can Enjoy- A Joint WCR Meeting and Everyone was a Winner!!!

Today's business meeting of the Women's Council of Realtors was a joint effort by the Greater Palm Beach Chapter and the Jupiter/Tequesta/Hobe Sound Chapter and it featured a Spring Basket Auction... always a favorite.

It was held at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott this Thursday, April 21, 2011.   Sandy Shepherd (Greater Palm Beach Chapter President) and Lynne Rifkin ( Jupiter/Tequesta/Hobe Sound Chapter President) presided over a packed room.

Our sponsor today was Steve Fenton of Handyman Matters.   Steve and Handyman Matters can help with any kind of repairs for a home but he is also a General Contractor and takes on even larger projects.  He was especially appreciative of Realtors because in reviewing his marketing efforts, he found that at least a third of his referrals have come from Realtors! 

A very special treat today was our Guest Speaker, Patricia Fitzgerald, President, Florida REALTORS, 2011.  I can't even begin to list the many boards and positions she has held but if you ever think you don't have time to do anything but your "day" job.... take a look at Patricia.  Something I took away from her today was her work with the Wounded Warriors, an organization that provides support for our treasured servicemen and women and their families. 

But the FUN/FUND part of our meeting/luncheon today was the Spring Basket Auction.... members donated their creations with the funds going directly to the chapters.   Room Service! Home Staging donated a basket to Put the "WOW" back into your home. There was a surprise special blue box from you-know-what company (think Audrey Hepburn); a complete Sangria and fixings basket; a to-die-for leather tote packed with goodies... well so many wonderful baskets!
