Being a part of the Tree of Life... Isn't it What We Hope to Be?
My husband and I were at DisneyWorld's Animal Kingdom this weekend to meet up with his daughter and her family, which included our two Grandchildren, Hugo and Thatcher.
We stayed with our good friends, Vince and Ann, whom we've known for over 20 years. We met in Boca Raton when our husbands worked for the same company and by coincidence when we were living in Orlando, they relocated there as well .... again for work.
They are the kind of friends everyone wishes for. Free of pretension, full of human kindess; always a kind word and never one said in spite. It was somewhat bittersweet because their home is on the market and when their house sells, they'll move north to be closer to their family.
I began to think about life... all of the friends we meet... some we lose too early. .. our journeys that begin when we are young with the world at our feet. We travel through the period when we all acquire the material things that we've been programmed to want. We have experienced the joys of career growth and watching our families grow.... health problems... the ups and downs of the economy... moving to different states, then back again.
Ones mind begins to think of these things when what's behind you is more than what lays ahead.
I left their house feeling a little sad. I know we will visit them once they move but it will be different. It has to be... we'll be on the next leg of our journey we call "LIFE".
However, entering Disney's Animal Kingdom I looked up to see the Tree Of Life a giant "tree", 14 stories high and 50 feet wide. On it are carved over 300 animals in a flowing tapestry...this giant landmark of the Park.
Upon seeing it I realized that we are all part of this giant tree of life... some call it the circle of life. Growing up and with luck having the opportunity to grow older .... it's life. It's what it's all about.
