In my "youth" my New Year's Eve night did not start until around 9 when we met our friends for dinner, which we would finally eat at 10:30PM. Thankfully good sense prevailed and we now spend our New Year's Eve with our extended family with dinner at home, kids included! We had an absolutely wonderful Zupa di Pesce, with home made rolls and the prerequisite mountain of desserts. My husband (the roll maker) and I left before midnight and welcomed in the New Year in our own home...
I even managed to fire off my first post of 2011. And I did stay up to see Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest welcome in the New Year.
But my favorite part of welcoming in 2011 was my New Year's Day walk at Deerfield Beach.
Getting to meet the New Year head on with the salt air blowing in my hair; seeing people of all ages out walking and greeting everyone with a "Happy New Year".... now that's the way to welcome in the New Year!
