Two Holidays That Go Hand in Hand- Cheesecake and Fathers-in-Law... How Sweet it Is!
Well if you think last weekend was a holiday treat, you're going to love today... July 30th is National Cheesecake Day AND National Father-In-Law Day.
I have no idea where or how these days were chosen but all I know is I'll take any excuse or reason to eat cheesecake. Are you a New York or Philadelphia Cheesecake aficionado .... I prefer mine creamy and topped with strawberries!
When I think of cheesecake, the episode of Friends when Chandler and Rachel steal find a cheesecake and can't get enough of it is what comes to mind. So grab your fork and dig in. Try Ina Garten's recipe for Mixed Berry Cheesecake.
Or, if you think you want to kick it up a notch, try Paula Deen's Ultimate Fantasy Deep-Fried Cheesecake! Forget about guilt!
Let's not forget our Father's-In-Law and their special day. Let's face it... Fathers and
Father's in law often get the short end of the stick when it comes to recognition. They are usually around to accommodate all of us.... going along with the crowd to family events.... standing over the grill for weekend cook-outs.... waiting to be told where to go and where to stand at their child's wedding.
My Father-in-Law, Bill, is no longer with us but I loved his dry sense of humor. At his 70th birthday he had us all in stitches. He loved to tease and kid and was so easy to have around.
So, if you're lucky enough to still have your Father-in-Law with you, how about giving him a call or a visit ..... bring a couple of forks and dig in to a nice cheesecake.
And, a favorite Father-in-Law and Father-of-the Bride:
