William Johnson, San Diego Realtor, has kicked it up a notch for the Month of May with a Photoblogging Contest. I've seen some remarkable photos here on the Rain so I can't wait to see some of the entries.
Grab your cameras and bring along some imagination... the deadline is May 21! Oh yes, and if you're in the 31 Days in May Challenge and enter this... you've got one more post under the belt!!
The ActiveRainPhotoBlogger Group Announces it's First Photoblogging Contest.

The ActiveRainPhotoBlogger group is pleased to announce our first Photoblogger contest effective today, May 1st and running through May 21st at 11:59PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time. ( ActiveRain Time)
What is a Photoblog? A photoblog is a post featuring a photo that tells a story augmented by words to position the story and expand on it. The first element of this is adding a photo to a post. The second element is to write the story contained within about the photo.
I have chosen not to set a theme for this contest. This would allow for your own interpretation of the photo story for your entry.
The guidelines for this contest are as follows:
1 entry ONLY per ActiveRainPhotoBlogger group member
1. The photoblog entry is limited to the use of one photo.
2. The photo must be original and taken by the person submitting the entry. You agree to abide by this rule with your membership in the group and again with your contest entry.3. No less than 300 words describing the photo. Words used in Advertising or Signature lines do not count. The best overall photo story will ultimately be declared the winner.
4. The dimensions of the photo in the entry can be no larger than 650 pixels in either dimension and no smaller than 500 pixels in at least one dimension. ( We all want to the see the photo that the story is based on.) At the end of this announcement, I have included two videos that will help any new member with how to properly upload a photo into a post and then how to position and re-size it correctly.
5. The title of your Entry should start with ActiveRainPhotoBloggerContest and then you can add any other title to name the Photo story that you wish.
6. Post your entry here at the original announcement post in the comment section.
7. You must join the ActiveRainPhotoBlogger group and also post your entry to the group.
The Judges will be using a point system to judge your entry. There will be specific points for Best Photo Capture, Best Photo Story and Best Overall Presentation.
There are 4 Judges, each experienced with photoblogging and judging contests. They will be announced at the conclusion of the contest when the winners are announced.
The Points being awarded for the Contest are as follows:
1st Place Winner 5000 Points Plus Post will be Featured by Active Rain. You will Also be awarded a 1st Place Red Ribbon that can be displayed in your entry.
2nd Place Winner 3500 Points. You will also be awarded a 2nd Place Blue Ribbon that can be displayed in your entry.
3rd Place Winner 3000 Points. You will also be awarded a 3rd Place White Ribbon that can be displayed in your entry.
4th Place Winner 2500 Points. You will also be awarded a Yellow Award of Merit Ribbon that you can displayed in your entry.
3 Honorable Mentions 2000 Points. You will be awarded a Yellow Honorable Mention Ribbon that can be displayed in your entry.
All other qualified entries will receive 500 points for entering the contest.
**500** Bonus Points for all other qualified entries if the entry is submitted within the first 10 days prior to 11:59PM EDST May 11th. ( So you are very clear on these bonus points, at midnight it becomes May 12th and that will be one second Too Late for the Bonus Points).

This first video will show the 2 different ways to insert a picture onto your blog.
This second video shows you how to align the photo in your post, re-size it & also place some white-space around your photo so that the words in your post do not run into your photo.
